Uncovering a Mesiodens with 3D Visualization
An exploration into the extraordinarily valuable diagnostic information that can only be found in a 3D scan.
Dr. Greenberg had been preparing to follow protocol and call for the extraction of a mesiodens that was inverted and impacted in an 8-year-old patient.
He had invested in a CBCT unit since he’d last seen the patient, however, and decided that he could use all the information he could get.
What he found resulted in a major pivot and a brand-new treatment plan that removed the immediate need for extraction.
You’ll find:
- The 3D panoramic image and subsequent analysis that led Dr. Greenberg to change the course of his patient’s treatment.
- How he captures 3D views with an effective dose as low as 11.4 microsieverts (µSv) or a “dose comparable with conventional panoramic examinations“.
- His patient’s new orthodontic treatment plan, including progress updates from 6 and 8 months post-treatment initiation.
