Our story

Founded over 70 years ago, DEXIS has spent decades creating new technology and pushing the industry forward.

From crafting the world’s first commercial ORTHOPANTOMOGRAPH™ to introducing the first seated dental X-ray system (Scanora™), the first spiral tomography (Cranex™), and the first dental imaging plate system (DIGORA™), DEXIS has always lived on the front lines of dental innovation.

The history of DEXIS intraoral scanners in the Indian market is closely tied to the evolution of the global DEXIS digital dentistry portfolio and the expansion of its parent company, Envista, into India.

The DEXIS of today

DEXIS now leads the industry in imaging market share and employs over 1,300 people around the world. DEXIS has combined the top brands in dentistry to offer a suite of award-winning imaging solutions, with over 165,000 units used in dental clinics worldwide. In 2022, DEXIS officially launched its new global intraoral scanning portfolio under the DEXIS IS brand. The portfolio included:

IS Voyager

This marked the formal beginning of the DEXIS-branded intraoral scanner era worldwide, including India.

Entry and Growth in India

Following the global launch, DEXIS expanded its presence in India through authorized distributors and digital dentistry partners. The company promoted:

Open STL workflow compatibility
Implant and restorative workflows
Integration with exocad and laboratory software
AI-enhanced scanning via IS Scanflow software
The flagship wireless scanner, the DEXIS IS 3800W, became particularly popular among high-end implant and prosthodontic practices because of its lightweight design and wireless operation.
Introduction of the Wired IS 3800
- In 2023, DEXIS launched the wired version, the DEXIS IS 3800. It offered the same scanning engine as the wireless model while reducing acquisition cost and eliminating battery management concerns.
Today, DEXIS scanners are positioned in the premium intraoral scanner segment in India.
